Manchester City's manager Expresses Regret Over Broadcast Crew Incident Following Loss to Magpies

Pep Guardiola has admitted feeling "shame" after a confrontation with a camera operator subsequent to Manchester City's loss away to the Magpies on Saturday.

At full time, an emotional Guardiola entered the St James’ Park pitch and had heated discussions with match official Sam Barrott and Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães, and also touched the headphones of the camera operator.

"I apologised," Guardiola stated. "I'm humiliated, regretful, looking back. It's not acceptable. I immediately apologized to the cameraman. I am who I am. After 1,000 games I’m not a perfect person, I make huge mistakes."

"What is for sure, I stand by my team and club, that’s for sure. The reason why I want to defend my team is no doubt – because from my experience to win the Premier League we need near-perfect totals, 98 points, or we fall short."

Team Standing and Guardiola's Assessment

The team sits in third and trail leaders Arsenal by seven points following their fourth loss this campaign. "Four defeats in twelve matches we have to improve a lot," Guardiola admitted. "Technically, we can to win everything."

When questioned about a potential quadruple was a realistic aim, he responded: "You are an experienced journalist, have you ever heard me discuss four trophies last winter when we won the quadruple? No."

Interaction with Guimarães

Regarding his confrontation with the Newcastle player, the coach explained: "We have known Bruno a long time and post-match, home or away, we converse. Our paths always cross and we get along well. I enjoy it. I'm passionate, I like discussing and move my hands."

He wouldn't mind if an opposition manager spoke to his players immediately after a game. "Not if it's respectful as I do, it’s not a problem," he said, mentioning the referee. "He was part of it throughout the match, he was involved. Goodness, very much so."

Debatable Calls

The team felt aggrieved that Barrott or the VAR denied a spot-kick on a Schär tackle against Foden, while they also questioned Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Pictures published later show he was level.

Upcoming Milestone

Guardiola will take charge of his 100th Champions League game versus Leverkusen on Tuesday. "That's impressive, showing we compete annually," he commented.

City have 10 points from four matches in the group, and Leverkusen hold five.
