Alpine star Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, on the back of earning a top-three finish for the fourth time in her last five World Cup events. The 41-year-old, who last week set a record by becoming the oldest downhill World Cup winner, took the bronze position in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her 142nd career World Cup podium finish. Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere Returning to the iconic venue for the first occasion in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was 0.36 seconds behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking the runner-up spot. "I was slightly lacking enough direction on the first jump," the skier commented. "Subsequently, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was overly cautious." This performance was her second podium at Val d'Isere during the event, having also finished third in the downhill race on Saturday. An Incredible Return from Injury Vonn officially retired in early 2019 due to ongoing knee problems. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 following a significant orthopedic procedure. With just over six weeks remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely. She boasts one gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed. Chasing More Titles Alongside her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has secured over a career spanning 20 years. She currently holds a substantial lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is ranked fifth in the overall super-G standings. This current World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
